Season 2

Michael was the first to realize and mention that the hatch, or Swan Station, was equipped throughout with Blast Doors, which could seal off sections of the station during a lockdown of sorts. The purpose of these lockdowns are still unknown, but it was during one of these that Locke’s legs were smashed, trapping him under one of these blast doors. A black light came on revealing a large, hand-drawn map in front of Locke, covering the entire blast door. It was later revealed through Desmond’s flashback that Kelvin Inman was adding details to this map after leaving the Swan Station on short expeditions out to the island. He was using liquid detergent to draw the map so that it would only be visible under a black light, which it didn’t appear that he could use while drawing it. According to Kelvin, a man named Radzinski learned how to manually trip the blast doors, and started the map. Both Kelvin Inman, and the mysterious Radzinski were members of the DHARMA Initiative.
